From Mikey’s Funnies:

We cannot prevent the storms in our lives, but we can dance in the puddles.

December is the month when the kids begin to discuss what to get Dad for Christmas. Some insist on a shirt; others a pair of socks, and the argument always ends in a tie.

The 4 stages of man: He believes in Santa Claus. He doesn't believe in Santa Claus. He is Santa Claus. He looks like Santa Claus.(I’m in stage 4!)

~ The grace of God is the mending glue for broken hearts.

~ A friend is someone who reaches for your hand, but touches your heart.

Nancy and I took a vacation between Christmas and New Year’s Day.  Gone for a couple of days we were glad to see grandson Abe when we arrived home.  Abe took one look at grandma and flew to her arms.  He gave me a smile.

A little while later he went to Nancy again to hold him.  He gave me a smile.

A third and fourth time he ran to Nancy to hold him.  And again I got a smile.

Grandma’s are special.  Grandpa’s not so much!

One of the joys about Christmas is being with the ones you love.  You enjoy your family.  God enjoys you.

God  loves you.  You can’t do anything to make him love you more or love you less.

Not only that He made you in His image.  Yes, we are all a bit tarnished.  But if you look carefully you will see that image in every one you meet.

Take time to enjoy God and His family.

Pastor Rick

Hard to believe that Christmas is only 17 days away.   (AGHH…I haven’t started shopping yet!)

Our Christmas eve services will be at 5:00 PM in the sanctuary and 10:23 PM in the gym. Christmas Day we will hold one service at 10:30 AM in the sanctuary.

Christmas Day we will be observing communion and baptism.  If you are interested in baptism let us know so we can make preparations.

Sunday the Choir will sing “On This Very Night” Christmas musical at the 10:30 AM service in the Sanctuary.

We bought our Angel Tree child, a two year old, a Christmas present. It was fun! Grab a little angel from one of the trees and get in on the joy of giving!

Thots From Sunday:  “Jesus’ People bounce back.”  …“Jesus People make different choices. They give up their agenda for Jesus‘ agenda.” … …They have different values. Jesus’ People hunger for God not material things.”… …They have Different Behaviors.  They forgive those who hurt them.  Bless those who curse us. Turn the other cheek, go the extra mile.”

Grab an angel from the Angel Tree to help a local child with a Christmas present.

Experience is that thing you have just after you need it.
Nancy is relabeling homemade freezer meals. Instead of labeling things, “Hamburgers”, “turkey” or “lasagna” she started labeling them “Whatever” or “I don’t know” or “Anything.” That way when she asks what I want for dinner she will know what to pull out of the freezer.
Names. Often we choose names because they have a nice sound. Or it is a name that runs in the family.
In the Bible names had meaning and sometimes give us a clue about the person. “Moses” means “drawn from the water.”
Then there are those who were renamed by God. Jacob, meaning deceiver, was renamed after wrestling with God. Jacob became “Israel”, Prince of God.
God changes us through Jesus Christ. Would he change your name? Perhaps from “Pessimistic Paul” to “Praying Paul? “Griping Granny” to “Grace-full Granny?” How would Jesus change your name?
